M. Jane Walsh
M. Jane Walsh has handled a wide range of criminal and civil cases in Massachusetts before the United States District Court and the Superior Courts of Middlesex, Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, Worcester, Bristol, Barnstable, Franklin and Hampden Counties. Jane has also argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Massachusetts Appeals Court, as well as been Counsel of Record on Petitions for Writ of Certiorari filed in the Supreme Court of the United States. Jane currently specializes in constitutional law and evidentiary issues.
Prior to joining Monahan & Padellaro, Jane served as a Staff Attorney for the State Ethics Commission, as Assistant General Counsel in the Litigation Department of the former Department of Public Welfare, and for nearly ten years as an Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County. As Assistant District Attorney Jane prosecuted violent felony cases with numerous jury trials before the Superior Court, and served as the first Director of Child Abuse Prosecution. She was a chief architect of the Middlesex County Child Abuse Prosecution Unit, a model for the criminal justice system’s efforts to protect children.
Jane served for several years as a Board Member of the Massachusetts Chapter of The American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, and was named to the National Society’s President’s Honor Roll. She has also been recognized for her multi-year service on the Massachusetts Joint Legislative Special Commission on Violence Against Children.
Jane holds a Bachelor of Arts from Manhattanville College and a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. Jane is admitted to practice law in the Massachusetts state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
